Islamabad, Pakistan: Former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan and and vice chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Shah Mehmood Qureshi has been sentenced to 10 years jail in so-called cipher case by a special court in Adiala Jail.

Imran Khan has said multiple times that he does have cipher and security of Prime Minister house was not his responsibility.

Imran Khan waved the copy of cipher in his public gathering in 2022, before he was ousted.

According to Imran Khan lawyer Salman Safdar: Judge Abu Al Hasnaat Zulqarnain asked Imran Khan, "Where is cipher?" Imran Khan replied that cipher is responsibility of principal secretory, not mine. At which judge said: "I am sentencing you punishment of 10 years."  After hearing this Imran Khan laughed loudly.

Spokesperson of Imran Khan and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Syed Zulfiqar Bukhari has declared this trial "unlawful".

Senior journalist, Imran Riaz Khan has reported that the haste with which this decision is given, whatever will happen will be overturned in next appeals. Public should focus on elections peacefully.

Imran Khan is most popular leader in Pakistan. Recently, his party's electoral symbol, bat, has been taken by Election Commission of Pakistan.

His party leader are participating in elections as independent candidates as PTI is not allowed to run election campaigns and to participate in elections.
