Fazal ur Rehman's fiery speech against government: Warns against reopening of Madrassa law debate

Islamabad: Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam-Fazal (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazal ur Rehman in an aggressive speech in National Assembly on Tuesday has said that any interference in the Madrassa curriculum will not be tolerated.

He said that protest will be launched if bill, approved by both houses of the parliament (National Assembly and Senate), if government continues to delay the matter.

JUI-F (Fazal ur Rehman's party) and PPP (Bilawal Zardari's party) are part of the current government.

Added, the legislation regarding religious schools (Madrassa) was passed after approval of the government.

Moreover, registration of Madaris in the Education Ministry is not something that has been officially set as a law. Instead, it is the part of the previously made agreement.

Furthermore, Maulana said that the bill has already become an act after the objections raised by President Asif Ali Zardari.

He said that the bill is officially established as a law, even though there is still an issue regarding the official announcement in the government Gazette.

He added, the president has no power to prevent the bill from becoming law  once the 10-day period has elapsed.
