Imran Khan's letter to Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa





Islamabad: Former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan wrote a letter to Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa on Saturday to drew his attention towards seven issues.


The issues highlighted by Imran Khan are Nawaz Sharif's Toshakhana case, Bahawalnagar incident, letter of six judges of Islamabad high court (IHC), free and fair trial in May 9 events, commissioner's Rawalpindi statement about rigging is general election held on February 2, 2024, rigging in general elections and  in the last, allocation of reserved seat in National and Provincial Assemblies.


In the letter, Imran Khan wrote that the rule of law has been fallen in Pakistan that encourages the primitive doctrine that 'might is right'. Moreover, while saying that Pakistanis are looking towards CJP he quoted the saying of Albert Einstein:

"The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing."


Imran Khan stated:

"I have no doubt that if our superior judiciary, with your good-self at its helm, would not meaningfully intervene as the custodian of the Constitution and the ultimate arbiter of justice, and if the foregoing situation were to prevail, it would be fatal to any civilised order in the world."


After that he put forward the seven issues in front of CJP, saying:

"Some of which form sub-judice matter of petitions already pending in the Supreme Court, while others involve facts and circumstances that glaringly call for prompt intervention at the judiciary’s own motion, but, in each case, it has so far been in vain."


Nawaz Sharif's Toshakhana case:

About Nawaz Sharif's ToshaKhana case Imran Khan wrote to CJP to take notice on NAB that has exonerate Nawaz Sharif's  open and shut case. Nawaz Sharif took luxury vehicle from Toshakhana through dishonest and illegal means for personal benefit and interest. Imran Khan demanded a thorough inquiry of Chairman NAB, Nazir Ahmed Butt's conduct and his removal from office.


Bahawalnagar incident:

Imran Khan urged CJP to take notice of Bahawalnagar incident occurred during Eid-ul-Fitr holidays. He recalled that police has crossed each line by raiding, looting and vandalizing homes of unarmed citizens, mostly PTI workers and supporters.

Naming PTI's women he said that these women have implicated in one case after another.


Letter of six judges of Islamabad high court (IHC):

Thirdly, Khan urged CJP to take action on letter of six judges of Islamabad high court regarding subjected to harassment and blackmailing by agencies.

A camera was found in a judge's bedroom, while another's relative was picked up and tortured. A cracker was thrown into house of district's session judge.

By failing the judges people’s confidence in the justice system of  Pakistan, which is undergoing significant erosion already, will stand dismantled and demolished.


Free and fair trial in May 9 events:

Khan said that he believe that 90% of the people who are undergoing trial for incidents of violence, arson and looting in protest on his illegal and unconstitutional arrest from Islamabad high court on 9th May 2023 were peaceful and unarmed protestors.

Moreover, he said that a constitutional petition calling for an independent, transparent and thorough inquiry into who in fact incited and perpetrated the 9th May violence, and who, by design or by dereliction of duty, allowed the violence to escalate, has been pending in Supreme Court since May 25, 2023. 


Commissioner's Rawalpindi statement about rigging is general elections: 

On 17th February 2024, in a press conference, Commissioner Rawalpindi resigned from his post after admitting responsibility for the manipulation of election results on 8th February.

In this press conference, commissioner said, "we converted losers into winners".

Khan said:

"His subsequent retraction,whose custody he was in until the point he made it and to where he has disappeared now from public view, saying these are a mystery to all and sundry."


Rigging in general elections:

Imran Khan put forward the issue of rigging in elections held on 8th February 2024. He drew CJP's attention on a series of petitions regarding rigging in elections.


Allocation of reserved seat in National and Provincial Assemblies:

He drew CJP's attention towards the issue of allocation of reserved seats in National and Provincial Assemblies by Election Commission of Pakistan.

He said the pending petitions on this subject must also be fixed and decided upon on a priority basis in the interest of justice.


Khan concluded by saying:

"As, what I believe to be the majority of our populace, faces the wrath of the state, now is the time for you to prove whether his proclamation of the supremacy of the Constitution is for real or were mere hollow rhetoric.”
