Egypt will back South Africa in historic genocide case against Israel at ICJ.

In January 2024, South Africa presented its case in International Court of Justice against Israel that it has been committing a genocide in Gaza against Palestinians since October 2023. More than 35,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 76,600 have been injured in Gaza stripe by Israeli forces.

In the case at Hague (city of Netherlands where International Court of Justice is located) South Africa's argument is that Israel has violated Article II of 1948 genocide convention.

Egypt says that it will support South Africa's landmark case against Israel.

Egypt's Ministry of Foreign affairs said that the actions of Israel are clearly violating the international law, humanitarian law and the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949 that explain how the countries respond towards each other at wartime.

The case also demands an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. Hamas has already accepted the ceasefire proposal in Gaza set out by Egypt and Qatar.
