Heatwave Alert: Punjab Schools Directed to Begin Summer Holidays Early

PDMA has advised schools and colleges to take immediate actions to protect students and staff from heatwave.

Heatwave Alert: Punjab Schools Directed to Begin Summer Holidays Early

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), keeping in view the predicted heatwave in Punjab, has advised schools and colleges to take immediate actions to protect students and staff from heatwave.

PDMA has given the following advices:

  • Revise school timings or make them shorter.
  • Consider earlier announcement of the summer vacations.
  • Ensure constant supply of clean and cool water.
  • Encourage students to wear light and loose clothes.

The weather forecast predicted a severe rise in temperature by  4 to 7 degrees. The PDMA believes that major cities, districts in South Punjab and plain areas will be affected by extreme heatwave.

The School Education Department has directed to stop all outdoor activities during peak heat hours.

Deputy commissioners have been instructed to establish heatwave protection facilities in public areas.
