Are You a Woman in India? Be Careful Amidst the Rising Rape Cases.
Women in India are not safe. In 2022, 31,516 rape cases were reported that shows an average of 86 rapes per day in India.
India: On August 09, 2024, a 31 year old trainee doctor was allegedly raped resulting in nation wide protest.
Her brutalised body was found on August 9 in a hospital in Kolkata. Initially, hospital informed her parents that she had committed a suicide.
Chief Justice Dhananjaya Yeshwant Chandrachud said that we are denying the basic equality rights for women if a women cannot not go to work place and feel safe.
Added, the nation cannot wait for another rape case before taking action.
Thousands of Indians are marching in Kolkata and in other cities across the country demanding justice and safe environment for women.
16 Rape Cases Reported in India in 10 days:
Case no.01
On July 31 a nurse was raped and murdered by a robber in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand. Her body was found on August 8.
Case no.02
A 31 year old trainee doctor was raped and brutally murdered in hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal on August 9.
Case no.03
In Dehradun, Uttarakhand a teenager was gang-raped by conductors and bus drivers in a bus on August 12.

In Muzaffarpur, Bihar a teenager was gang-raped by conductors and bus drivers in a bus on August 12.

On August 14, a teenager was gang-raped by friend and his accomplices near her home in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu.

A minor girl was gang-raped by three juveniles on August 15, 78th independence day of India, in Siliguri, West Bengal.

On August 16, a man raped 11 year old girl and uploaded her video online in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh.

In Bhopal, M.P a minor girl was raped at her home on August 16.

In Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh a 14 year old girl died on August 17. She was raped by her teacher in December 2023.

A tenant's 11 year old daughter was raped by a 22 year old man on August 18 in New Delhi.

A minor girl was tortured and raped by a man in the name of love on August 18, NTR, Andhra Pradesh.
This alarming rise in rape cases across India has shocked the world. August 18 reported 6 rape cases in the country.
The main reason for this rise is lack of fear of law. "Strict Laws" should be implemented across the country.
