Pakistan thrash South Africa to secure semi-final spot at Hong Kong Sixes
Pakistan secured their place in the semifinals in the Hong Kong Sixes tournament with a thrashing victory over South Africa.
Hong Kong: Pakistan secured their place in the semi-finals in the 2024-2025 Hong Kong Super Sixes tournament by crushing defending champions South Africa by 17 runs in the second quarter-final held in Mong Kok.
Batting first, Pakistan set a target of 106 runs with powerful performances from their lineup. Muhammad Akhlaq and Hussain Talat delivered remarkable innings, with Akhlaq scoring a rapid innings of 53 runs off just 16 balls, while Hussain delivered 27 runs of 11 balls.
South Africa struggled to chase the target, managing only 88 runs for four wickets. Pakistan's strong bowling and fielding propelled them to the semi-finals with a 17-run victory.

This win marked Pakistan's third consecutive victory in the tournament. A day earlier, Pakistan, fielding first, defeated India by six wickets, chasing down 120 runs in only five overs.
India had posted 119 runs for two wickets, while Pakistan chase the target by projecting 121 runs without any loss, with Asif Ali's thrashing innings of 55 runs off just 14 balls.
