Pakistan triumphs over Australia to reach the Hong Kong Sixes final
Pakistan beat Australia in the semi-final, advances to the final, on the Hong Kong Sixes tournament.
Hong Kong: Pakistan claimed a spot in the final of 2024-2025 Hong Kong Sixes tournament by thrashing Australia in thrilling semi-final match held at Mong Kok.
Surprisingly, this win marks Pakistan's fourth consecutive victory in the tournament.
Pakistan's captain Faheem Ashraf, winning the toss, decided to field first. Batting first, Australia projected a challenging total of 107/1 runs in the six overs.
Australia's openers, Sam Heazlett and Wood managed to build a 56-run partnership. Captain Faheem took Wood down in the fourth over.
Chasing challenging target of 108 runs, Pakistani openers, with a vibrant start, projected 40 runs in just nine deliveries.
A day earlier Pakistan beat South Africa in the quarter final by 17 runs. Key performances were delivered by Muhammad Akhlaq and Hussain Talat.
On the other side, Sri-Lanka beat Bangladesh in the second semi-final resulting in excited final between Pakistan and Sri-Lanka.
