Sri Lanka clinches victory over Pakistan in dramatic Hong Kong Sixes showdown
Sri-Lanka won the 2024-2025 Hong Sixes tournament by thrashing Pakistan in the final at Mong Kok.
Hong Kong: Sri-Lanka won the Hong Kong Sixes tournament by defeating Pakistan in the final held at Mong Kok.
Batting first, Pakistan managed the target of just 72/6 runs in 5.2 overs. Muhammad Akhlaq scored 40 runs off 20 balls with a strike rate of 240.
Sri-Lankan bowlers smashed Pakistan's batting lineup smashed, Hussain Talat and Shadab Khan scored just one run. Captain Faheem Ashraf scored 13 runs off 4 balls. Aamer Yamin managed just six runs off 2 balls. While Asif Ali knocked out on the first ball by Dhananjaya Lakshan.
Sri-Lanka, on loss of three wickets, chased the target in just five overs. Sandu Weerakkody delivered thrilling innings of 34 runs off just 13 balls. Sri-Lankan captain, Lihuru Madhusanka, managed 19 rubs off just 5 balls. While Tharindu Rathnayake scored 16 runs off just 4 balls.
In the first semi-final, Pakistan had defeated Australia and Sri-Lanka defeated Bangladesh in the second semi-final held at Mong Kok.
